I’ve always been a fan of the aparthotel concept. It must be one of the most hassle free and simplest ways of enjoying an overseas property.

The concept is simple: you and the other freehold owners get together and go out to tender to find a company that will market and manage your property on the basis of a share of the income, typically around 50%.  You generally also get to use the property yourself if you wish for a set number of weeks each year.

You perhaps don’t make so much rental money this way but you’ll probably find you get higher occupancy rates which balances things out over the longer haul. And, if you are not planning to use the apartment for your holidays you may even be able to buy it through your pension fund - a potential saving of up to 40%.
