Utilities in Cyprus.

Gas – gas is available in Cyprus and costs are a lot lower there than they are in the UK. Gas is used in Cyprus for both cooking and heating. Canisters are approx 4.00 CYP each and will last between 3 – 12 months depending on the size of the canister and how frequent it is used.
There is currently no direct gas supply to home in Cyprus although is something that is being planned for the future.

Telephone – there is a standing charge for line rental in Cyprus and this is currently CYP 5.00 a month. Please note that this price does not include call charges/ the country code is 357 and any outgoing international calls should start with 00. Emergency number 199.

Water – water in Cyprus is paid on a quarterly basis and is approx CYP 7.00-8.00 depending on the area and usage. Approx 1-30 cubic metres will cost CYP 0.05 up to 90+ cubic metres will cost CYP 1.25. The water in Cyprus is classed as safe to drink though bottled water is always widely available.

Electricity – There is standing charge between CYP 2.00 – 3.00 a month. 240 volts AC. No adaptors are needed for appliances from the UK as Cypriot plugs are the same.
Plus an additional 6.4 cents per KW/hr at peak times (07.00 – 23.00).
5.5cents KW/hr during off peak times (23.00-07.00).
