Religions in Morocco

Islam is the official state religion in Morocco. The vast majority of Moroccans are Sunni Muslims of the Maliki rite. As is many Islamic countries, Sufism claims adherents, and forms of popular religion. Moroccan law mandates freedom of religion, but few non-Muslims reside in the country. The country has no indigenous Christian population to speak of, and its Jewish community has dwindled to a few thousand.
