Telephones in Turkey

Fixed Line Telephone. The main service provider is Turk Telecom. The telephone infrastructure is organised, efficient direct dialing system. All Turkey’s residential areas are linked to the network.

Country Code of Turkey is 90.

Dialling from Turkey use the relevant code for the country you are calling. You can also call with operator assistance. By dialing 115 you can reach Turk Telekom's international operator. Register the call details to operator and the operator will provide the connection for you.

Public Pay Phones. Public telephones are conveniently located throughout the country. They work with telephone cards of 30, 60 and 100 counter. For a short international call one 30 counter card might be enough. You could buy these cards in yellow signed PTT (post) bureau’s and grocers.  

Mobile Phones. In Turkey there are four GSM operators, Turkcell, Telsim, Aria and Aycell. Roaming agreements exist with most international mobile phone companies, but check with your service provide in the UK if they have a roaming agreement. Coverage is mostly good, but can be patchy in some rural areas.
