Exporting your car to South Africa

Permanent export

If you a taking your vehicle out of the UKon a permanent basis you must notify the DVLA of the vehicles export. In order to do this you will need to fill out section C on your V5 (vehicle registration document). The V5 should then be returned to the DVLA. Once the DVLA have received this you will be given a certificate of permanent export, V561 as confirmation of your vehicles registration.

Temporary export

If you are taking your vehicle out of the country for less than  12 months you must make sure that you take your vehicle registration document (V5) or certificate (V5C) with you. You must make sure that you meet any international and national driving condition for licensing and taxation.
