Visa information for Bulgaria

No visa is required to enter Bulgaria as long as you are a citizen of a country that is a member of the EU. However, foreigners have to register with the police after 72 hours. If you are travelling with an estate agent this will be sorted out for you; if not, your hotel may handle the necessary paperwork, but you have to ask. If you are not staying in a hotel you will have to go to the local police station yourself to handle this task. Failure to register may result in a fine of 2,000 leva. Make sure when you enter Bulgaria that you have your passport stamped otherwise trying to leave may be difficult. Even though Bulgaria entered the EU in 2007, it will take some time for changes to happen in this area. Once this has occurred this information will be up dated accordingly
