Pet Care and Travel in Bulgaria

Most towns and cities do have adequate veterinary surgeons.  It may be wise to track down a local vet before you travel.

If your pet is insured, check with your insurance provider as to whether or not your pet is covered outside the UK, and what procedure you should take when needing to make a claim abroad.

As Bulgaria only became a full member of the EU in 2007 there are different rules and regulations for your pet to travel. They may have to undergo various vaccinations or even quarantine.

Contact defra at the address below for full details about your individual circumstances.

Even though Bulgaria entered the EU in 2007, it will take some time for changes to happen in this area. Once this has occurred this information will be up dated accordingly
