Albena is on the North Black sea coast of Bulgaria and is 32 km north of Varna and 12km south-west of Balchik. Albena is on a long stretch of sand in the northern part of Varna Bay, set beneath a high hill and close to the forest of Baltata which is a protected area. To the north of Albena the Black sea coast is steep and has yellow sandstone and limestone typical of the area.
