About the Island of Brac

Brac is the third biggest island on the coast of Croatia and the largest of the central Dalmatian Islands. Brac is less than an hour by ferry from Split and also has its own airport. The main resorts on Brac are  Supetar, Milna, Postira and Pucisca, which are beautiful little ports, with the most famous of all being Bol, which is home to the Zlanti Rat or “Golden Horn” beach. Many holiday activities are available on the island, including scuba diving, paragliding and wind surfing.

The Brac countryside is beautiful, with olive groves, vineyards and an abundance of sour cherries and almonds. Wherever you stay on Brac you will notice the striking white stone, which is still mined today, it has been used in the construction of many prestigious buildings, from Diocletian’s Palace in Split to the White House in Washington.

For sightseeing visit the St Vid church on Mount Vidova Gora which is the highest peak on the island and has spectacular views of the whole island. Find the Brac museum in the Radojkovic Tower at Skrip which is the oldest settlement on the island. In Bol, discover the art of Branislav Deskovic (1883- 1939) in the gallery dedicated to his work, or visit the beautiful 15th Century Dominican monastery.
