The new resort of Mediterrania – Saidia - Maroc is located along a 6 km stretch of Mediterranean coast in eastern Morocco near Saidia between Algeria and Spain's Melilla. Mediterrania – Saidia is being developed following a tender by the government of Morocco to develop five seaside tourist resorts, with the aim of attracting to Morocco 10 million foreign tourists by 2010. Mediterrania – Saidia will contain 6 hotels, 3 golf courses, a port, a medical centre and a huge commercial and shopping centre. Particular attention has been paid to maintain areas of green space which is one of the government’s high priorities.
About Saidia
The area of Saidia is a coastal resort and has superb white sandy beaches, with crystal blue sea. The area is surrounded by a natural bird preserve of marsh and woodland, and access to the main beach is through a eucalyptus forest. The weather is good virtually all year round, with a similar to the Costa del Sol, with average summer temperatures of 35°C. October to April is cooler while still providing welcome sun and winter temperatures as high as 22°C. The city of Saidia is lively with a good assortment of bars, restaurants and shops. The area of Saidia is ideal for all types of water sports, with a lovely bay providing a safe place for bathing and sailing. There is a marina with 740 berths available.
