Platja Gran is the main beach at the centre of the Tossa de Mar resort. It is a big sandy beach set in an attractive horseshoe bay dominated by the ancient defence towers. The beach, which consistently earns the European Blue Flag for cleanliness has good facilities, has a nautical club and beaching area for boats. You can take a boat ride along the coast to Lloret or one of the other neighbouring resorts. Watersports include water skiing and parasailing. The nearby Mar Menuda beach, also known as Sa Palma is equally well served with services, activities and a diving school which caters for beginners as well as qualified divers.

There are 16 sandy beaches and small coves to the north and south of Tossa de Mar town centre, many with watersports, bars and cafes, while others have no facilities. Cala Bona is a delightful small sandy beach 3 km to the north of the town. Futadera, 6 km to the north, is another beautiful beach where there is no modern tourism. Cala Figuera is a naturist beach, 3 km south of the resort, while 2 km along the Costa Brava coast is Tossa de Mar southernmost beach is Cala Morisca and is one of the last truly unspoilt beaches on the Costa Brava.

The north eastern end of the bay of Tossa de Mar is a mass of islands which make this area excellent for snorkellers and divers. Local diving clubs organise day and night time excursions to various sites along the coast. For a family day out try Water World which is just outside Lloret de Mar, or Marineland, located a short drive along the Costa Brava coast south of Blanes.
