Zadar is the northern most region of Dalmatia in Croatia. It includes the southern part of the island of Pag and has several national parks and natural areas, most well known being the Paklenica National Park. There is also an airport in Zadar. The Kornati Islands National Park is situated off the North Dalmatia coast and are the wildest archipelago of islands of Croatia. They consist of about 147 isles and rocks, most of them unpopulated. Other islands in the region of North Dalmatia include Vgljan, which is the closest island to Zadar. This island is 20 km long and is the most populated with 8 little towns. The island has abundant nature, covered in pine forests, olive groves, fig trees and fields.
