Morocco is fast becoming a popular destination for overseas home ownership due not only to the climate, the resort facilities but the promise of rising prices as many are predicting that the north coast could become a mirror of the Costa del Sol which is just 30 minutes away by air or 3 hours on the ferry.
What makes Morocco just now such a must-see for anyone looking to buy property abroad is that it blends so much in such a seamless fashion: 1970’s Costa del Sol scenery and unspoilt landscapes with new, modern yet tasteful developments; developing nation value-for-money with high levels of World Bank funding for development and infrastructure; and, of course, Muslim values and education with a true tolerance for western culture and behaviours. Here there are no draconian bans on alcohol consumption or intolerant dress codes for females. Morocco has been called the “diet coke” of the Muslim world – liberal, tolerant and not at all heavy-handed. It is ruled by a king who wants the country to embrace western visitors, both tourists and businesses, and who is encouraging the country’s development on several fronts.
There is an ever increasing choice of property available with something to suit everyone from new in town developments to purpose-designed coastal resorts.
English is not spoken widely outside the business community. The legal system and language is French with arabic also widely spoken.
