Our beloved British postal System

I cannot believe that today it's still true,

To send a small parcel I must wait in this queue.

Long languid minutes, oh what is it like?

And by the time the queue ends they'll all be on strike.

I promise it's small, not bulky to move;

Just a wee token for my wife of my love.

I'd like her to get it before the year's out,

Not much to ask, guv, no reason to shout.

This modern post system is enough to depress;

It was quicker and cheaper with the Pony Express.

Then just at the time when truly we need them

They seem to slow down for the festive season.

No wonder we're emailing, no wonder we call;

To use this poor system would cause our country to fall.

Invaders would come, find this country benign,

'Coz we're all in the post office, standing in line!
