People don’t want to have to plough their way through a load of web sites to check out the latest property listings. But what’s the alternative?
The Overseas Property Centres web site allows you to subscribe to 'RSS feeds' for any region; bringing you new properties to you as soon as they are added - direct into Internet Explorer 7 or any news reader.
So you can get alerted the second any new listings are added that might interest you, without ever visiting a web site at all! You will never miss that amazing property deal again!
In fact, our amazing property web site is the first Overseas property web site in the UK with extensive RSS feeds for all locations.
The technical bit
RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many 'web 2.0' or modern sites, including Overseas Property Centres, syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.
Why RSS? Benefits and Reasons for using RSS
RSS solves a problem for people who regularly use the web. RSS allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually.
What do I need to do to read an RSS Feed?
All you need is an RSS Feed Reader or News Aggregator.
Feed Reader or News Aggregator software allow you to grab the RSS feeds from various sites and display them for you to read and use.
A variety of RSS Readers are available for different platforms. Some popular feed readers include Internet Explorer 7, FeedReader (Windows), and NewsGator (Windows & online version), Net News Wire, NewsFire and Safari (Mac) or try Flock (a web broswer for Windows & Mac).
There are also a number of web-based feed readers available. My Yahoo, Bloglines, and Google Reader are popular web-based feed readers.
Got my reader - now what?
Once you have your Feed Reader, anywhere you see the RSS icons
or RSS you can either copy and paste the URL into your feedreader (add a feed), or if you are using a browser based RSS reader (IE7, Flock or Safari) simply click on the icon and the feed will open in your browser window.
Bookmark or save the feed (depends on your reader) so you do not need to revisit the site everytime to open the feed. Now you can revice updates wihout having to revisit the site again.
